Our beloved rover 75 conni se, it was our pride and joy, but did not need 2 cars, we did get 6 fantastic years out of her, it never let us down, she had just a fantastic engine, that we cherished and looked after.

hopefully we will find another one as good, but i doubt it

Without going into a massive list . with hindsight I regret selling all of them ,as everyone would be worth from either a lot of money for most to a ridiculous lot of money for a few of them .

I think we've been here before earlier in this thread. Like the P6 and SD1, you'll find that despite their rarity, most 800s (including the Coupe) sell for buttons nowadays. As we discussed a few posts back, for some reason old Rovers do not appreciate in value to the extent that we might wish and there's no reason to suggest that the 75 will be any different. Enjoy your old Rover by all means, but don't kid yourself into believing it's going to be worth a fortune in the future.

Just seen an immaculate white K reg Carina parked at a private address in Penrith. My brother-in-law bought a 100,000 miler for £300 off a mate. B-i-l doesn't do mechanics, but took it to 200,000 with just a yearly service. Rust and no residual value took it to the scrapyard.

If a car is worth preserving, it should be because it's a nice car to own. If enough people agree that it's a nice car to own, it may go up in value. That is just a bonus.

I've had 30+ cars over the years. I miss my old Colt Galant turbo, it was such a comfortable car to drive long distances, easily cruising down the motorway at a steady 110mph. Selling my first (of two) Toyota Soarer twin turbos to pay the rent was also regrettable, but necessary. I sold it to a mad Irishman whose only sms to me was "f****** fast!", before he fatally crashed it (the car, not him). More recently, my daughters disposed of a BMW 750iL I had sitting around in the south of Spain - they 'gave' it away for about 400€. The deep dish 18 inch BMW alloys alone were worth more than that!

Regret is a strong emotional word. Some of my cars were 'fun' to drive - the M5, and even the Renault 4 I learned to drive in. The one that put the biggest smile on my face was the Alfa Romeo 147 Twin Spark 2.0, simply because it just kept pulling all the way up the rev range! You could not drive it without wanting to pull out and scream past whatever was in front of you!

My current Rover CDTi Tourer rates as one of the most liked. I know I will be sorry when it has to go...

I missed them all when they went, with the exception of the Audi A4 tdi which was a pig. Most missed I suppose were the '67 Mini with a 1300 Midget engine, the Mk4 Cortina 2.3 with 5-speed box nabbed from a Sierra, the Mk1 Megane 2.0 Coupe, the 2.5 Galant and, most of all, the Mitsubishi FTO Yobbomobile.
