Drive Train Issue
My MGZTT failed the MOT for an excessively binding offside front brake. I've cleaned the brakes and made sure everything is free but the offside front wheel still needs a lot of force to turn it while the nearside turns freely. The problem is definitely not the brakes.
Anyone had this problem before or knows what the problem might be?

Are you 100% sure if not the brakes? I would remove the caliper completely and see if that improves things.

Absolutely not the brakes, even with the caliper off it won't turn easily. I'm thinking it may be something to do with the right hand drive shaft bearing. Will try to have a look tomorrow. Does anyone have a complete right hand drive shaft in case that's the problem.

Could be the wheel bearing seizing up then, take the shaft out of the hub and see how that turns.

Wheel bearing seems ok, no noise, no movement, no overheating, but I will check tomorrow.

My old zt diesel is still parked up at side of house if yours is also a diesel.
Been parked up for 2 years though. Will be rusty with sitting but feel free to get in touch if it’s any use to you.

It seems you've done a thorough check.---
Only things left are the bearings so it has to be one of them.-- |

Trikey you da man! After removing the driveshaft the wheel was still stiff to turn. It was a bar steward of a job to get the the hub off, but I've never seen such a gunged up bearing. Just waiting for replacement parts and hopefully back on the road soon.
