Wasn’t going to do anything with cars this weekend after stripping down the 1800 classic on Thursday. But, finished work then serviced the tourer and fitted two new front droplinks that were advised at MOT. Absolute rubbish drop links so I guess I will be doing them again soon After that I fitted four new tyres to the classic cooper.

went out to move Kim into position for working on the front bumper. turned the key and 'click'
Got the battery charger out and tested it. showed 0% again. I had only recharged it a fortnight ago. I recently had new rear brake pipes fitted for the MOT, they told me they had to drop the fuel tank, charged me a days labour. However, when I rebolted the damper after changing a rear coil spring, I had the pad wear sensor wire on the wrong side of the damper. To avoid chaffing on the wheel I hooked it round a bolt on something under the fuel tank. If they had dropped the fuel tank like they said they had, surely they would have had to move that wire and put it back where it is supposed to be rather than where I left it? So, if they are after more money, is there something they could have done which would drain the battery quickly without me suspecting it? I will also check the starter motor. fob still works to unlock/lock the doors, and dashboard lights come on. So even though the battery charger shows 0% charge, it still looks like there is a charge. Dash lights are bright not dim. Sorry for the length of this

Sprayed the new rear sills - will need another couple of coats and then some lacquer, took the washer pump out and cleaned it, then removed both rear discs and cleaned them out, cleaned the brake shoes, discs back on and set up the hand brake.
Only needs a good body wash, the interior cleaning and the MAF changing then it is MOT time. |

Today I attempted to change over a drivers door actuator from a donor vehicle. When taking the original one from my car a rod came out with a thread at one end and . yellow plastic part at the other with a spring. Im assuming this should attach to the door handle somehow but Ive no idea where to as visibility is limited inside the door. Ive had a look at the forum for photos but I cant find any threads with photos to guide me. Can anyone help please.

Swapped a bit of plastic on the 190 for a bit of shiny, makes not one jot of difference but why not 😎

You are in a world of pain at the moment no that part that opens the door from the out side as come adrift, not easy at all to replace, we had an owners at the last Nano meet have the same problem, door card off, glass out & even then it was still quite hard, I have added a few photo's below which may help you to visualise were the part goes before you refit it, that is if you have not done so already. It is that little spring that gives you the most trouble if that as dislodge good luck
