Default Brake pipe offside rear - does tank need dropping?

Hi. MoT man has failed my CDTi on corroded rear offside brake pipe, among other things, and says it may need the tank dropping to fix it. I've had a look underneath and it doesn't actually pass over the tank. It's up high in the gap between front of tank and bodywork, but I can see it all the way. Does anyone know if the tank is dropped to change OSR, or does this just apply to NSR? I won't be doing the work myself but would like to know what's generally involved. Also, do people change the flexi as well? And would you go to any garage or seek out specific Rover expertise? Cheers, Van.

There is a connection for both rear brake pipe in front of the front drivers footwell around 45 degrees to the floor pan. I disconnected mine here dropping the whole rear brake pipe ( LH and RH ) to pattern new ones and refit. Not the easiest thing to do on the drive way but I managed in the end.

I recently changed the OSR As mentioned in a previous post I disconnected the pipe at the front and re routed it but did not follow the exact original route. but it all worked out OK And yes the tank remained in situ

As long as the pipe is secured it can go anywhere you want. A trick on some BMW's is to go along the chassis because if not you have to drop the rear axle and fuel tank out.
