Default Trip Computer Stays On/Message Center Wont Come on

Thought I was going crazy at first but after I remove the ignition key and lock up etc the trip computer stays on permanently - see below

Also, the message center wont come on at all now (normally press the button at the end of the stalk to go through the functions). Whats going on????

Most probably red herrings but thought Id mention recent history:

1) I was fixing the bonnet release today and whilst the bonnet was up I noticed an ever so slight electrical sounding high pitched buzzing. Dont remember that ever happening before.

2) Ive had my front bumper off today (to re-roor the bonnet release cables) which also involved removing the driver side headlight.

3) As part of (2) I also disconnected the plug/socket connecting all the electricals from the front bumper.

4) Whilst I had the bumper off I removed the wirey grill and I did try and unplug the outside air temp sensor which wouldnt unplug so just left it in place and cut the surrounding grill.

5) For the first time ever I tried setting the maximum speed setting on the message center.

6) Whilst the bumper was off I also cleaned out the washer jet pump.

7) Yesterday I replaced the rear passenger door lock but have had everything working since.

I was wondering whether I have blown the message center fuse or sommnething but not sure why that would make the trip computer stay on???

Where is the messgeg center fuse?
