creaky pedal - Page 2

Hi, Having just purchased my 75 Connie, The clutch pedal been driving me nuts cylinder was cracking when holding it it so I fitted a new one from dmgrs which improved it then started to come back so in desperation found someone on this site said put a plastic shim between the pedal box & the bulk head & WOW it all gone so thank you who ever put that on here as I can’t find it

Best to remove the clutch pedal completely from the pedal cluster - it is mounted on a nylon bush which is normally thick with dried crud. Clean the crud off. I put petroleum jelly around mind. Refitted, now smooth as Galaxy chcocolate.

Taking care not to drop bits down the back of the carpet because they are an almost impossible task to find and recover them! (You can guess how I know this!). Also be careful not to break, bend or lose the clips that hold the pedals axle rod in place (there's one at each end I believe). I was told that somebody had their pedals fall off (brake and clutch!!!) whilst travelling due to a faulty clip on one end!!!

Mine used to do it until I sprayed it with this

WD-40 DRY PTFE LUBRICANT 400ML.

Never made another noise in over 3 years.
