So who fancies their op at 4am then?
Personally I don't think the surgeons will be at their best at this time.......

Depends if they introduce a Full shift system for Surgeons. Doubt whether there will be the Nursing back up at nights though.

Great idea! Super! let the docs and surgeons work 24/7 to cover all these extra ops!
Where the hell does he think the extra staff will come from? NHS is critically under staffed as it is, let alone some stupid idea to work them 24/7! Classic example, had to take my little boy to the hospital at 2am Sunday morning, now the poor doc in charge had 3 other cases in and was on call too, it took her till 5am to get to us, and even then she got bleeped away twice, no fault of hers, and I felt really sorry for her. Can imagine the scene now, surgeons just done the crucial cut and gets bleeped I swear they're out to get the country into such a state for someone else to sort out, much the same as the 70s really! Oh and just reading that article properly, I quote Quote:

i agree that something needs to be improved with the NHS to cut the waiting time down for ops. i dont think running 24/7 is the best way.
Maybe have all minor non serious ops down at night like in growing toenail and small things like that ? |

How about spending the NHS budget on medical type things instead of row after row of administrators?
What's wrong with having consultants and matrons running things as it used to be? |
