Today for the first time in around two weeks, the weather was calling me to give the KV6 a gentle wash. A young lady came past as I washed it and said:- you asking for it to rain? I said it usually does when I wash it. And guess what.........it is.
Got to have a look at the diesel tomorrow in the garage if it’s not raining and start it up for around half/three quarters of an hour. Not been started for around 3/4 weeks, so will hope for the best.

Mine got washed after getting a thick coating of salt from the roads up here. Then the leather steering wheel was given a deep clean with APC, magic sponge and, eventually, once there was no more dirt to come out and the wee white paint flecks had also gone a few doses of leather conditioner applied.
Steering wheel no longer super shiny looking and feels much better to touch |

Just replaced both of the bonnet struts on the ZT. What a difference they made, the bonnet will now rise on its own once above half way, so probably means the wind won't blow it down on me. (I don't work with a bonnet open into a facing wind just in case a strong gust damages it)
One of those things that unless they fail totally, you don't realise how much they gradually degrade over a period of time. The ones I removed were 2004 manufacture so 17 years is probably not bad. |

Filled the Bear up with go go juice. Should last a month (ish!).

Gave her a wash followed by a pressure rinse. It was hardly needed but I had nothing else to do.
There was a fair bit of condensation on the windscreen so sent off for a couple of dehumidifier pads. Last edited by Annfield-East; 12th January 2021 at 18:02.. Reason: Correction. |

What I did today with my 190
Reminisced and took my 190 for its MOT. I was not filled with a great deal of confidence, it always feels like I'm going to the dentist! I'm quite diligent and service it and keep up on things. Guess what?? The blooming thing passed first time with no advisories!! I thought the MOT guy was pulling my leg!! I've never had a MGRover car (44 years) that has ever passed its MOT first time!! I was in a state of shock!! The worst car I have ever had for MOT failures was a Morris Minor Traveller I completely rebuilt it, took it 7 times to the MOT station until the guy gave up and passed in from shear pity!! It was the rear handbrake, it was ineffective despite a full rebuild!! The car came with crossply remoulds!! They never wore out but you took your life in your hands when corning and/or making an emergency stop!! Those where the days!!

Replacement window switch pack arrived. Nothing wrong with the old one other than a very annoying rattle from the mirror adjustment switches. Installed the new switch to find only half the buttons worked. Ended up sitting there with a torch in my mouth dismantling both switches and putting the new buttons onto the old switch. Pain in the backside but rattle free now!

A very good idea to put dehumidifier pads in your car. I bought two from Aldi. One is on the shelf by the back window, and the other is on the floor at the back of my seat. Been there since November and no condensation on the inside of the windows so far. Last week I heated the one up in the microwave for 5 minutes to get it back to its blue marker colour.Well worth the money.
