Question Aston Villa/Rover

Whilst watching Soccer AM this,err,am,there was a member of a band on,who was wearing a vintage? Villa football shirt,with "Rover" sponsering on the front What era was this from Didn't know Rover sponsered any teams

If I remember correctly they would start with either MG or Rover branded tops and they would switch at half time, same colour different badge
