I'm with Adrian Flux, £280 on a "modified" policy, 46 years old and declaring a claim two years ago.

hi i am with adrian flux i paid £280 fully comp i have 60%no claims also around the same age as you .well give or take a couple of years mind they did sting me for another £55 on top when told them i changed the wheels to non standard .but even taking that into account its a hell of a diffrence i am inclined to think it has more to do with your postcode try it with your work postcode and see

Just been through the same exercise, spent two days on 'phone an www.
47 - 7 YRS NCD, + Mrs as name driver, two declared (windscreen+hit a dear).
2.5 V6, SDP+Commute
Was with CO-OP ECO last year at 305.00
Highest - 655.00 !
Flux - 295
Lowest Hastings Direct - 265.00

Got to be something as you say, as that's novice driver territory!
Just out of interest, if you put your details in to go-compare or similar are you getting a large 'spread' of prices or are they all returning a similar figure?

Some things I found out when getting the price down;

Don't have your car garaged - Admiral wanted £100 more than if I kept it on the drive! (Very strange I know!)

Put a female on the policy

Limit the milage

I'm 28 and with 1 years no claims I paid £370 with Adrian Flux for a ZTT 190. The area I live is classed as being above average risk as well.

been with saga 5 years always managed to bring them down a few pounds, the best they could do this year was £312, aviva phoned me up to give a quote, i let them waffle on,
£50 less excess than saga
courtisey car
windscreen cover
legal
sdp + commute to work
ncp
insured against uninsured drivers
all for £248, the cheapest i have paid in 5 years well chuffed

I'm with Churchill - £200.50 comp cover £100 excess protected ncd, but I'm 55 and live in the wilds of Norfolk!

Cheapest was £472, not that clever really
