Old technology and ugly.

I use Valeo aero blades, they look modern and work very well. Cheaper than Bosch units.

Hi

That's what I have just replaced mine with. Excellent. Fair price, quick delivery & clear view through windscreen.
Slightly important don't you think?

You might have bought some recently from there that were either really rubbish or really good

Any pros and cons for buying 3rd party wiper rubbers?
i put flat ones on mine , i paid ..................... £1.50 for them and they was the best wipers i have had on any car .. the guy that sells then now has a shop in east london so dont get to see him as much as he used to pop in to the garage and sell us bulbs and afew other things for the mot centre ...

I think exactly the opposite. The aero wipers look ugly and as for new technology look at them, they are cheaper to make which is why they are the fitment on new cars, not because they are better. Someone tell me why they are more expensive? My Lidl ones are now 3 years old and are perfect for £4.

I think they look cleaner and more modern. They create less drag, generate less noise in terms of squeak and wind noise, have more consistent pressure across the blade and last longer as a result, they are also less effected by strong cross winds that can lift the old type blades. They also dont rust up and require less or usually no adjusting.

Sure the cheap ones are rubbish because they are just plastic, but the bosch and valeo ones have a sprung metal backbone inside the plastic trim and arent cheaper to make.

Well for £4 mine wipe perfectly, dont squeak, drag, no wind noise, lift and have been on for 3 years still perfect also not rusty. I think the "modern" look is as bad as the old plastic aerofoils from Halfords and look as good as those on a Classic car. Sorry but if you look at the engineering on the old style, the Aeros are cheaper to produce and more expensive to buy.
As they are a minimum of 3 times [sometimes 7 times more expensive]
I think they are a bad buy. At 7 times more expensive they need to last 21 years [I dont think so] Dave

When i mean drag i mean aerodynamic drag, not screen drag. Its a fact that the older blades lift, its their biggest weakness after streaking due to inconsistent pressure. Some cars are more susceptible to it than others due to the areodynamic shape.

You are comparing el-cheapo wiper blades with premium aero blades, hardly a fair test. My Valeo aeros were £21 for a pair, good 'traditional' blades are no less, the MG-Rover OE units are more.

I am comparing El cheapo blades which work just as well for £4 with £21
Let me know if yours are still working well in 15 years time and I will tell you they are good value. Re lift at speed, mine don't lift at 70mph

Federal Mogul (or Trico) at less than £10 for a pair get my vote. Postage is £2.65 though from this site.
