Yes, one has an E493A squirrelled away for that rod brake, no seatbelts, mot or tax to worry about, and it has an Aquaplane head fitted

She's called Debbie

Hi Arctic,

Its my Freelander in the pic. The local LR club had access to a motorcross site for a day, so we was out having some fun. Nice to get to know the car under those circumstances. My FL did clear the peak of the hill with the correct driving style, but was touching a tad sometimes. It was gravel anyway so it did went well. I will consider a tank guard if doing more off road. Here are some more pictures.

In this one, the car is standing, balancing on two wheels. Nice feeling

Here I got stuck. The car was resting on the subframe bolt, but I did manage to get out as I realized the car would clear the ground if I just got it moving a few inches ahead:

Without any shadow of a doubt this Rover 75 has been the least troublesome of them all and the longest I have owned a car. Still a joy to drive after 9 years of ownership, it has niggles but in the general scheme of things absolutely wonderful. Cost me a modest amount of money plus routine servicing mainly. Including, incidentally, belts and pulleys at Lates (on here), whom I can fully recommend.

Therein lies its problem. These cars are so nice, with the most inaccurate and wrongly held image, it represents incredible value to those who appreciate fine cars but might be hard pressed to buy one. So the routine servicing is the first casualty after the first resale and so many are just waiting for the unwary buyer. That says far more about the secondary buyers than it does about the car.

Usually with about £500/1000 to add to the price, to cover the necessary but neglected routine belts and other service routines, the omissions surface as they would with any car. A lapse in servicing is not economy, it is a delayed transferred cost.
I totally agree with this one. The tourer I had was the car that gave me most "value" in any ways over its years
The only sad thing is that I feel the R75 is not that big car. I may have got used to my Freelander II, but putting 2 adults and 3 kids in it feels a bit squeezed all around. It was getting less comfortably on the long vacation trips the last year I had my tourer. Compare it to a Jaguar S-type for example, it is smaller. A lot of other saloons and estates I park beside, seems a tad larger now. And the last sad thing is that the KV6 is a thirsty little lump. My R75 has been put in a "classic car mode" in my place, storing it inside at an external location in the winter time and now used rarely. Just preserving it and keep it in mint condition as best I can do and waiting for a "classic status" when most others are going into the metal presses....

When I bought my Rover in 2019, it had the original belts (confirmed by one and only owner), that would have been 18 years old at the time. I replaced them myself, however, they did still look brand new, no cracking, no wear. So who knows....doing it earlier than what Rover suggested seems to be stupid, maybe waiting 18 years is also stupid. Maybe somewhere in the middle :-) Also, must point out that when I bought the car, it had only done 53,000kms.

Default 21 years, 97000 miles!

The 2001 2.0 V6 I bought last year was apparently still on its original belts when I had them changed. Was still running beautifully, but for how much longer...? Anyway, now it has a new lease of life
