Default kv6 hydraulic cam followers - refitting ?

I am rebuilding the heads on my kv6 and have finally got the valves back in the head ( those collets are fun ! ) . Ready to refit the hydraulic followers but wondering what is best practice ? I have seen many opinions that they need to be immersed in oil and "pumped up " prior to fitting , but Haynes and Rave say to just oil them up well and refit in original locations , leaving the engine to pump them up .
What do those who tinker with these think ?

Do as specified by Haynes.

You should be aware of the the tappets may expand some when out of the cylinder head. In many cases, the tappets have not collapsed sufficient after installation due to internal "gunk buildups", making the valves not closing properly on the initial start up and making the engine runs pretty roughly due to lack of compression on one or more cylinders. In most cases, the tappets will settle quickly under the first warm-up and make the engine run smoothly again.

Just a nice thing to have in mind....

24 followers x 5 minutes each = 2 hours. Time well spent.
