Default How to get a new spare key?

Hi all,

This question has probably been raised several times, but here I go

How much hazzle is it to get a new key made for my car? Getting the blank key and get the blade made is something I should be able to get done here in Norway, but how can I get the key coded for my car? I have only one key at the moment..

Your key fob has two parts, the remote locking (remote board with battery) and the immobiliser chip.
Suggest you post on your local FB page as I seem to remember someone saying that could do transponder chips.
You can reprogramme used remote boards with Toaf, I've done it a couple of times. Contact Sebastian Tovås who I've got listed as a Toaf owner, not too far away in Bergen. If he doesn't know the procedure I'll gladly help.

Keep well

ps Love the new 1.8 thread, most interesting.

Thanks for that

Seems like Rimmers supply the complete key with cut blade and transponder chip (based on VIN) which will work in the lock barrel and start the car, but needs a T4/TOAF session to make the remote work. I have sent them an email just to make them confirm this.

Please share their response. I've had a look at keys recently as there's a 75 for sale locally with no keys, not terribly interested as it's a manual and I've got too many already but you never know.

Found the Rimmer's site a bit confusing with many options for keys but if I only have to programme a new remote board then that's easy enough. I've got a T4 too but that only wants to play when it's in a good mood, and I find Toaf my first choice for diagnostics.

Keep well

Hi,

Just got this confirmed from Rimmer's. So then it is basically hope to get a car without keys to work. I see that Rimmer's list two different keys with different frequencies. I guess Rimmer's can assist ordering the correct one https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001786

You would need the CWD000060 433MHz

Only Australia and Japan use 315 MHz
