Is it the cable or the pedal?
Mine wasn't sticking, but I noticed an awful lot of slack in the cable and as the car is 10yrs old I changed the whole throttle cable.
Perhaps the cable housing has got a load of grit and gunk in it that's making the cable jam? If it's slack it wouldn't be retracting as good as it should.

Got a new cable from Rimmers, was on offer for £12 and only took 10 minutes to replace the old one.

Had the same on my 190 until one day the throttle got stuck fully open while driving. Had to turn the engine off and cruise to a stop. Can't remember exactly what cable/tube/pipe was in the way but it had come loose and was rubbing against the throttle just by the inlet manifold. Just had to clip the cable back into the holder and problem fixed. Might be worth a check on yours in case.
