Water Leak
Quote:
New rads on ebay about £65 but good s/h one ok if in good condition Diesel engine. Haven't yet seen one on here yet, needing a head gasket K4 1.8 petrol engine, common problem but new modded gasket available. V6 I think rare but possible. Of course there are 2 heads, plus cambelts at both ends of engine. But failed water pump is main weak point.

Some "garages" will diagnose HGF on a 75 on a whim, for various overheating problems, water leaks, water pump failure etc. often without proper investigation. They do this for 1 of 2 reasons.
1) They want the extra and expensive work. 2) They don't want the extra and expensive work. As suggested previously, have a competent mechanic replace the rad & bleed the system properly before spending a fortune....
