Started fettling the new lower arms .. to fit the lower bushes.

Both castings a bit on the rough sideon the hex ends and 2 different sizes across the Hexagon.

27mm AF ( about the right size) and 29.8 mm AF

And the maker had forced the bush on over that end was a **** to get off .

also to fit the better style rear bushes . not those fitted to the arms ( the one on the left).

and the Hex bit is a bit smaller and much smoother now

now got to find a way to fit them in the road outside

C..

PS... anybody a dimension/position for the bush when i beat it on ..... from end of arm etc or from the main joint ? .... ta..

Default Injectors Pulled

I pulled all 4 injector today in a leak finding search, as I have pooling around a couple of the injectors very slightly but all the same it soon builds up.

It as not affected the performance the injectors look good on balance on T4 also with a leak back test, therefore I have a suspicion it may well be the copper washers, so injectors lifted ready to remove completely tomorrow.

Blimey Chris, that arm and bush look fairly poor, where did you buy them........so I know where to avoid

The TRW arm I bought from Autodoc was spot on, it didn't even need a rub with a file on the hex.

Positioning of the bush isn't absolutely critical, but as a rough rule of thumb, you should have 20mm from the end of the arm protruding through the bush.

Don't use washing up liquid as a lubricant, use either liquid hand soap, swarfega, KY jelly, or even red rubber grease in moderation.........washing up liquid has salts which have an adverse effect on the aluminium arm.

Have fun

Default Diesel leak

Today I carried on with the investigation of diesel pooling around my injectors, bearing in mind the leak back test was not conclusive, T4 showed all were in good spec, I had no starting problems, no performance problems.

So after I took out the 4 injectors i changed the tips over for good nice clean ones, cleaned up the injectors on the out side, added new copper O-rings which i suspected could be the problem.

Fitted them started the car up ran it for about 30 minutes no pooling, but tomorrow will be the test when i give it a good thrashing to put them under pressure, hopefully when i get back all will be well if not back to the drawing board.

Hi Steve. How long have they been in the engine? Are these the ones you refurbed yourself? They look quite good on the tips , and not much gunk on the rest of the body.p

Hi Dave.
They are the original injectors to the car, the tip are quite dirty if you check the photo.

Compare them to the refurbished clean tips.

4

Cleaned out the injector ports as well.

I only change the tips as the injectors were in good spec, usually I take them right down.
7

There is a very minute ball bearing that sits in this cup if that is lost then its game over, same goes for any of the shims.

All I did today was to use the house vacuum cleaner to suck up bits of fir tree the wind jad blown all over the front and windscreen of the spare Club SE tourer.

Waiting for delivery of the special tool to access the fuel pump to find out why it won't start. (Yes I know I could use a hammer and bodge it, but as I have several thought I'd get the proper tool)

I ran the NUK for 20 miles testing the injectors to see if I have cured the pooling round them, all seems well so fingers crossed changing the tips & adding new copper O-rings have sorted it out.

I noticed the the dirt on the tips, but the actual end of the tip where the spray holes are , did not seem to bad. I will say, I think stripping them all the way down is a job I will leave to yourself and the pro’s who do it for a living. I am happy that your test today brought up no more probs with the flooding injectors. Just waiting now to get the aircon checked over and re-gased , and then get the belts changed so I can get the KV6 mot’d and on the road.
