Default Random door open dash warning

Hey guys,

Anyone ever had the dashboard open door/bonnet/boot light come on while you're driving along? It happened to me tonight, and obviously no associated door flying open event occurred so I'm wondering what's gone wrong. I got out and open and closed everything, and still the light is on. Problem is now that the alarm also thinks there is a door open. Help would be appreciated!

Cheers
Rich

It will be your bonnet switch (same warning light) so would suggest you either adjust your bonnet down tighter, or put a pad on the bonnet, where the switch hits!

If it happens at speed then it's the bonnet lifting up.....need to screw the rubber buffers down a bit

Wear and tear most likely.

Chad.

Make sure that the half-moon catches are working, e.g. sliding across, if not, due to them not holding tightly, and as implied by others, the airflow lifts the bonnet. I would suggest doing that before adjusting anything.

It happened to me, when I first got the car, it was due to my not dropping the bonnet hard enough for it to catch on BOTH bonnet catches.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I thought the internal light didn't come on for the bonnet? I'd check for damp or a leak in the car. That's what caused mine, I think. As soon as I stopped water coming in via the boot then the problem went away.

It definitely operates from the bonnet, and the switch is under the little black wobbly grommet on the slam-panel.

The dash warning light comes on for boot, bonnet and all four doors. If fitted with the matrix display, it tells you which is actually open.
