75 CDTi - Facelift - XENON refit
Hi
I have an R75 Facelift LHD with projector lenses (Halogen lamps), and have found a used set of Xenons on fleabay from a UK registered RHD car. I know the light pattern is different (because you still drive in my side of the road), but my question is, can I take the front glass and lenses off the Xenons and replace it with my own (with light pattern in the right (left) side)?? Since new ones are not available and used LHD versions impossible to find (I have tried for years now), this would be a possibility - I hope.

Projectors are the same light pattern as Xenons as far as I'm aware, all you have to do is swap the bulbs and ignightor packs which I'm told is a 2 minute job.
The down side if the law is the same in your country as the UK is that you need the self levelling mechanism and headlight washers to be fitted. Richard

Xenons have a beam adjustment lever inside them for driving on the opposite side of the road. You should be able to fit the RHD Xenons and move the lever so as suitable for LHD I'd of thought
Turns out with more research as you say the actual lense may be different Last edited by Moonshine Mark; 24th January 2014 at 16:40.. |

The lever inside changes the beam pattern from \__ \__ for RHD to __ __ for driving on the continent LHD beam pattern is __/ __/
Not sure whether that would pass your contries vehicle test or not. The projector also has this function the lever is inside the headlight. I'm not sure if it would be possible to swap over the globe parts from the inside as the bulbs are held in different ways. if your after the xenon look you may have to look into the legalities of fitting an HID kit into your existing headlights.

I just checked Rimmer's site and that indicates alternative Mk2 LHD filament lamps are available (see Item 8 variations) here: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001652 The ZT and 75 lamps have cosmetic differences only as I recall. I guess these could be fitted with a HID kit like any others. Rimmer also have LHD HID versions (at a price). See Item 1: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001653 Sorry if you've already checked all this out unsuccessfully. TC |

Project Facelift XENON: RHD ---> LHD
I threw all caution overboard and bought the RHD Xenons.
On with the Project. The short version: I succeeded! Completely! The long version: I will prepare a How to. (took plenty of pictures).

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system. Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given. http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/cr...sandguides.htm It is not mandatory to have washers or self leveling fitted with HID or LED.
