Default parking charges

Just parked in town for an hour, cost £3.00 = 60pence for 12min or 5pence a minute. Why can't we motorists do something about this rip off. I pay nearly £250 a year tax is this not enoug? 5pence a minute to park is downright robbery.

Thread moved to general for better coverage!

Parking in central Glasgow is a joke. I remember coming back to my car parked in the car park under Strathclyde Uni, and it was £14 or so. I now park well out of the city, ideally in the West End, then get the tube into the centre.

We get two hours for free in the local car park, then it's limited to £4 for the day

Around here, I really need to look very hard to find somewhere where I do need to pay to park.

Stevenage town centre is around 1.60 per hour, but I parked at the hospital last week and that is a minimum charge of 3.40 for 2 hours.

Plenty of places here charge to park, doesn't bother me though, plenty of ways to avoid paying for parking

£3 an hour? bargain, come and try London, we have parking meters here that are on a better hourly rate than the wardens patrolling to see if you have fed the meter.

Arghhhh tell me about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I work in the city centre and NEED to bring the car. Thankfully I'm one of the lucky ones and have a special card for car park that costs me £5 a day but Glasgow city council are a joke, it would cost me £11 to park outside my work for the day/ shocking!!

Due to the greed of local County Councils, it is killing small towns too.

There is a big car park in my local small town. Virtually empty, of course, except for the odd little white warden van.
Everyone is squashed in the free Co-Op car park opposite

The latest business to close down is the bakers, that have been there since the year dot.
