I suspect if there was an easier option Russ wouldn't have removed the door card to open the door.

Ive done that using keys I gave for sone of my other Rovers.
That wouldn't have worked as you need to turn the ignition on to access the BCU !

However I dare say if relay 4 (main relay) was bridged it would fire up the ECU but I've never had to resort to that ........yet !

Just a quick reminder folks,
At the very least (if you can`t be bothered to fork out £15) get a good quality digital picture of your blade (oohh er misses) so in an emergency you could get a key cut by a company called "keys in the post". Could save you a lot of money and heartache!

When I lost mine............. I bought a scrap car and swapped over the speedo, locks, ecu, ews and bcu and steering lock.

Took a day.

then promptly found the keys 3 days later.

And if anyone buys ANY car from a dealer with only one key....

200 quid off the price straight away.
An easy haggle.
Or get the seller to supply a 2nd key
Or the deal is off

My 260 only had one key when I bought it but the previous owner lived in the same town as Russ. Spare key, T4 once over, tea then headed north.

Only got one key when I bought my tourer, but found it had been a one owner car and passed via auction within the trade to the dealer I bought it from. Found it had been bought from and serviced by Luffield at Loughborough, and made contact. Wadge of service history arrived in the post next day free and contact details of previous owner. I got in touch and he still had the second spare key, so he kindly sent that on too!

I lost one of the keys to my 75 and often wondered, but just bought another. Quite a bit later I was looking for my camera and then my mobile 'phone but never found them, odd that. Then a while after I unlocked the 75, jumped in and found the handbrake off, in gear and the ashtray jammed open, I'd never do that. It all made sense, not odd at all.

Then the 75 hit a lamp post, that's a story for another day.
