You lot are doing something right, in over 5 yrs of owning my V6 I couldn’t manage above 30 mpg.

The way I calculate is miles traveled divided by gallons in tank = mpg
Now I am the first to admit not an exact science as there was a little in tank already (between empty and 1/4 tank) before I put fuel in... so my calculations are give or take a few miles.

Yep,
Only ever seen above 30 when resetting on the motorway at steady 70ish!
Auto shows 24 max on local roads (more like 22)!! But no diesel ZT for me!

Totally agree I get about 25 mpg on local roads real s***. But for me driving my R75 Contemporary SE with the looks I get and comments from people, and its such a beautiful car to drive...... outweighs the mpg.......

Only good thing about diesels are the higher mpg, but they do chug after a while, and they smell of diesel too, how many cars have you walked near, or got into and smelt the odour of diesel.... I used to drive many different diesel taxis many years ago and they all did.

Oh! and the price of petrol is cheaper than diesel.................

My Miss Starlight is a bit insulted at the insinuation she may 'chug'! Over 160000 miles and she would actually wipe the floor with my 2.5........she doesn't smell either

(OK, Miss Starlight isn't mine, she's KBonney's......but I pilot her )

I quite agree, my last 3 diesel cars, plus my diesel van - do NOT smell of diesel, -unless you sniff their tailpipes! My2001 CDT does its 100mile per day commute with smooth, quiet ease, returning close to 45mpg on standard diesel, - and I am keeping up with most of the Audis and BMWs in the outer lanes of the uncrowded, Cumbrian M6. If your car smells of diesel, get it fixed - it must have a leak!
