Hi' check to see if the crankshaft oil seal is leaking behind the pulley as the seal can get damaged by the broken belt, it did on my car.

I agree with Arctic, looks like PSF to me.

I Reckon the belt has more than likely damaged the hose, or a hose coupling, and the PSF has been flicked around. It may well only leak under pressure. Pay attention to cleaning the PSF hoses completely, including the couplings.

I do not use a jet wash in the engine bay to wash of engine cleaner, I use one of these and hot water.

Put a plastic bag over the alternator. Make sure it's well covered.--There is very little else you can damage with water in that area.

Remember to remove it when you start up and look for leaks.

Also check the A/C pipe as not rubbed through tie it back if it is chaffing.

check the power steering hose near to the pulley it can chaff and rub a tiny hole in it, then it will spurt fluid upwards.

Hi, it's pretty tight in there but there's oil on the right side, at the back of the pulley.

I don't know if it's leaking from there or it is oil splashes (from the belt?) while the engine is running ...
When I bought the car (before the aux belt snapped/broke), there was oil at the same location.

The mechanic who changed the belt right after it broke, told me the area was "oily/greasy" but he didn't find any leaks, he cleaned the area.

Five months later, this area is again "oily"

OK I'll make sure to clean everything before taking the 75 for a ride today.

Thanks I really appreciate ! Would you recommend me to wash the engine bay with a jet wash (with alternator and aux belt covered by plastic bags) ? I guess I'll have to wait a few minutes before starting up the engine ?

Thank you for the photos ! I'll take a look at pipes and hoses
Nice idea to use cable ties !

Thank you everyone, I'll keep you posted !

BTW back on the original FBH topic. Mine sounds like a jet engine as well, I like to think that it annoys the neighbours on a cold morning who I don't get on with.

But when I bought the car and put the FBH on the next day ( the seller had disconnected the FBH plug claiming that the noise of the FBH scared his wife but that it was in perfect working condition!) I was alarmed to discover massive clouds of white smoke being emitted each time I switched it on, so much in fact that I'm surprised passers by hadn't called the fire brigade.

I know it probably isn't an option for yourself but I took the car up to the Midlands where FBH experts Trebor and Devilsh stripped it out and declared the burner to be the most coked up one they had ever seen. Even after replacing with one of their refurbed burners we still had loads of white smoke coming out of the FBH exhaust pipe which was also full of coke deposits and soot

So we changed the exhaust with one they had and all has been well since, two and a half years later.

So you may need to service your FBH burner and possibly clean your FBH exhaust pipe. There are comprehensive 'How to's' on this site including the materials and parts you will need.

If the white smoke is minimal you may get away with it for a while but it sounds to me as if it possibly is in need of a strip down and service.

UPDATE :

I checked the hoses and pipes, and there was one touching the alternator

So I used a tie plastic cable as you did to !

While I was filming the pipes and hoses, looking for any leaks right after the engine startup, I smelled something burning and then I noticed smoke coming out of engine bay .....

I looked under the car to check the FBH exhaust, no visible smoke was coming out whereas on the video we can hear the FBH working.

There was a pipe touching the FBH exhaust, the pipe was burning

I used cable ties to prevent the hose from touching the exhaust (temporary fix).

Yup that pipe is very close.

I used one of those asbestos substitute mats that plumbers and Gas fitters use to protect surrounding woodwork and stuff when using their blowlamp in a tight corner and used a couple of cable clips to secure it after wrapping it round the exhaust after also securing the larger silicone / rubber hose just to be on the safe side.

The blow lamp protection mats are quite flat/ thinnish and are probably around a foot square and are only a couple of quid in a plumbers or central heating suppliers

Never jet wash in the engine bay. --That's just asking for trouble.----( Long handled brush with engine cleaner, carefully rinsed off afterwards. )

I've used lumps of foam between all those rubber pipes and metal edgings from the time I bought the car --13 years ago. It has worked perfectly for all that time. ( plus the cable tie on the air-con pipes. )

Cabin heater exhaust excepted.
