Remember a year or two ago when we were told that we no longer needed the paper counterpart and should destroy it?

Surely only when empty (1974 onwards?). 12 is the max (now) on present legislation - I think.

Funnily enough Kev no - I could have loaded it full of passengers as long as they weren't fare paying. Come to think of it I demonstrated the vehicles a few times fully loaded. Back then you could pass your test in a Mini, get in a double decker, fill it with your mates and you were good to go. Crazy but allowable.

Yeah, your info is starting to re-awaken another dead memory cell. That's two to-day!

Knowing the kill joy's in life I'm guessing that one needs to pass the PSV test (or whatever it is called now) first? Can new licences allow driving 40ft empty coaches?

In the 'Old Days', passing the test in a car, covered driving any vehicle (with some exceptions), which included driving a bus, but if you were driving a bus for payment or reward, you needed an additional PSV licence. Now buses (and HGVs) have their own driving licence categories.

Confess that I had "lost" my pink licence when I got the photocard.

I have a couple of years left on the photocard.

I'm always mislaying it and might not be able to find it when renewal time comes.

Ironically, I will then have evidence of entitlements when I find it again.

I was on the ball and applied at the start of my 90 days before renewal was due as stated on t'internet and had my new license back very quickly. I hung on to my old license until the new one arrived, then sent the old one back cut in two as requested by DVLA. Two days later and I received a license renewal application from DVLA. Beat yer to it DVLA!

If they want me to return my expired one they should have included a stamped self addressed envelope, they've had enough money off me for the replacement which doesn't justify the cost of materials used or the time taken to process.
