Default Toaf and Cowley cars?

Does Toaf work on early (1999) Rover 75 cars (V6). I got my old XP laptop out and the cable that I used to have for my 05 reg Rover 75 car. I downloaded Toaf. It connected to my lead on the COM port but when I asked it to"Scan Car" it didn't come back with anything. I seem to remember that the early cars don't communicare with Toaf. Is that correct? I don't actually need it as all is OK but just curious and bored in lockdown!

I've used it on early cars without problem, although never tried with any pre-launch as I've never seen one. Daughter had a mid-99 V6 and it worked on that.
The only problem I know of is the SRS one on cars after the introduction of Autoliv but there is a patch for that.

Regards

Many thanks.I'll try putting Toaf on my newer laptop as that one is better at installing USB connected hardware.

Tried it on a later laptop and it doesn't see the USB connection. No COM in the box at all. Doh.

I may be wrong in my direction of thought, but were the early petrol cars OBDII compliant? If not this could explain the issue.

My 99 Cowley V6 2.5 is fully OBD2 compliant. With an ELM 327 I can communicate via Bluetooth with my Android Torque Pro app. I can see error codes if any and lots of statistics about the engine even data may be even better & more numerous on later cars.
Even my 1994 214i cabby is MEMS 1.6 compliant and thanks to an existing 3 pin plug in the engine bay it can be connected to my android or my laptop.

I'm guessing that I have not done the correct procedure for extracting and loading the driver for the lead. I used 7 zip.

You might have to change the COM port in Device Manager... sadly can't remember which one I used, but Windows will enumerate them automatically, choosing the next available number, and this may not match the one in TOAF... anyway, make sure they're the same
