Default Tyres: Vredstein vs. Bridgestone

Folks,
I will have to replace my tyres (225/45x18) in the next few weeks. I currently have Vredstein Sessantas and have been considering trying Bridgestone Potenzas next which seem to be highly thought of and are supposed to be a bit quieter. However, I've heard recently that the chances being made to tyre tread patterns to make them quieter tend to make them worse in snowy conditions, and the Sessantas behaved well in snow in the the Peak District last weekend.

Does anyone have experience of both? If so, can they let me know how they compare please?

Cheers,
Kearton

Only have good words about Bridgestones and one of the quietest I've experienced on 18" Rims

I have potenzas on the front, a lot quieter than what they replaced. Seem ok in the snow here, but if you want snow performance - get proper winter tyres imho!

I had Continental Sport fitted new to my ZT saloon when I bought it in March 07. Did approx 8 000 miles, switching the backs to fronts around half way before I sold it to a guy at work to get my current ZT-T . There wasn't much left on them and he had to change all 4 soon after.

Expensive tyres for only around 10 000 miles and not exactly amazed by their performance.

Personally rate Goodyears. The F1 GSD3 is (or was) an excellent tyre IMHO, but they don't (or didn't) do a 225/45 18.

Also interested to here opinions on these tyres, as the Apex's I bought also had continentals fitted.

Ben

If you've driven on vredestien's you know how good they are, IMHO they're the best unless you've deep enough pockets for Mitchelins, I Vredesteins all round on my car, superb and they last too
