Exclamation Mg ZT-T 190 SE

Just as a warning to anybody looking for an MG ZT-T.

There is one for sale on Ebay at the moment - an MG ZT-T 190 SE in black with 90,000 miles.
However, it apparently has a 2.0 engine, not the 2.5 as stated.
This information was supplied by the previous garage who took it in as an auction car from trade - and discovered the egnine was wrong for the model! They rejected the car - and it has now resurfaced on ebay as per the listing number below.
it may well be a cheap car for what it is - but beware it is apparently not a 2.5 190....

Find this very hard to believe. Mk 2 SE models like mine came with apex alloys as standard (one in the pictures has) and all the features/options listed in the ad. There were only 190, V8 & diesel SE models produced I believe? It also has a V6 engine in the pictures. There wasn't a 2.0 V6 available in the ZT.

A 2 litre V6 engine is a straight fit...

Obviously I havnt seen the car in the flesh, so cant vouch - but this is what I was told by the previous garage who bought it - then rejected it back to the auction company.

There is a picture on the listing of the engine - I`m not trained in such things - is it possible to tell the difference from this between a 2.0 and 2.5 KV6?

I presume that at some point in the cars history the original 2.5 engine fitted was replaced with the 2.0 - but the V5 still shows it as having a 2.5 (presume this is incorrect - and the DVLA should have been notified?)

The engine number should give the game away as to what type is fitted. The VIN number should also tell you but may not be as reliable if the engine has been changed at some point during it's life.

Of course its new owner could experiment with adding a supercharger to it.

The 2.5 supercharged versions (standard models modified but with MGR approaval as they wanted to evaluate the possibility adn I understand it) sold as ZT220s in Australia tended to be rather fragile if used intensively, but a supercharged 2 litre might be OK.

Regards,
Kearton
