Not sure if posted before - how about wireless keyfob and push button start ie no need for key in ignition, had this on another car and have to admit it was impressive
Well you didn't say they had to be reasonable ideas

In theory, no problem at all Both Dave and I have had our cars doing just as you suggest. The problem, so far insurmountable, is that, when using a by-pass transducer, the car refuses to lock. Solve that and all things are possible, although I'm not personally keen on having this function on a car with manual transmission. Automatic isn't so bad as the engine / transmission interlock is already in place. Might have a problem getting this one past your insurers as well. |

would`nt you need the key in iginition for the steering not to be on ,i had an alarm that was remote start but you had to put key in for the steering lock i think the best bet would be to work out a boot release from a press of the fob.

The problem is nothing to do with the steering lock. Already done. It's included in the Ultimate Remote (Third party) How-To. |

How about this to help turning / manoeuvering / parking at night:-
When the head lights are on plus one of the indicators, the same side's fog-light comes on to help you see the edge of corner. Possibly also including the steering wheel being turned more than a certain amount (e.g. indicator reset trigger?). The steering element would ensure that the light doesn't come on when overtaking or changing lanes.I saw it on a Honda Gold Wing (motorbike) a while back. Regards, Kearton |

Chaps - some excellent ideas, one of which is now incorporated.
I was rather thinking of things to do with the remote though. I hadn't intended to think about radically altering the car's overall setup |

fbh winter/summer mode
hi paul just looking at your'e thread on the summer cooling using the fbh module.correct me if i am wrong(won't be the first time)lol the fbh unit all ready has a summer cooling cycle built in. all you after do is wire pin 5 on the 6 pin plug via a switch too earth on the car possibly using a diode to stop any kind of surge back to the fbh.when the sitch is in the on possition the fbh is earth through pin 5 (summer mode) when the switch is in the off possition (winter mode) ie heating.so we could still use youre fbh module the same way as normal but with a little wiring mod on the module its self to earth the fbh on pin5 to allow summer mode and turnning off pin5 for winter mode ie heating this could save us going back into the a/c connector block with an other wire or so. do you think this could work? or have you got a better and simpler idea? waiting with baited breath
