Hi.
There's no way i would pay that. I thought maybe £50 for the four would be about right. There only 4 small strips of metal after all. |

sounds to me like they dont want the job the setting up for the bending would take a guy on a cnc press about 10mins.thestrips would bought in as blanks cut to size to press it would take around a hour for say 250 bits checked the angle as you go.this is done as to get 90 deg you press at 88.5 then the metal springs back to 90 well thats the theory

Trikey, many thanks to you for taking the time in finding out prices etc. (Seemingly a thankless job) But those sort of prices, although in this day and age understandable, are way over the top for the likes of me I'm afraid.
But thanks all the same for trying, it was a nice idea though.

FYI, the MG Owners' Club Catalogue (online here) includes a "Door Seal Retainer MGB" which looks to be the same sort of thing. (The pic in the online catalogue is not as good as the one on the paper copy.)
If anyone lives or works near MGOC HQ (Swavesey, north of Cambridge) perhaps they could pop in, take a look & report back as to whether it would be suitable or could be adapted. Regards, Kearton |
