The question is, where did *he* get the car from if he's implying it wasn't Hopton?

This guy is seriously pulling a fast one as said previously Hopton garage clearly sold the car stating its faults. If this guy bought it from them he Must know the background or as indeed it is Hopton Garage pulling a fast one.

Carl, what did you report it to Ebay under? I will do the same this guy is definitely mis-leading potential buyers.

Reported it as a fraudulent listing....

Hopton Garage selling another quirky car here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-ZT-T-4-6-V8...item3a662eb343

Apparently sold at Saltash auction for £3200 last month. Sold on Ebay in 2009 for £5300.

Black one looks a bit scruffy in the engine bay for 25k miles, plus yet another seller avoiding taking a close up of the driver's seat which should still be mint at that mileage.

When are eBayers going to learn about distance selling in that there should be no surprises as to the real condition of something when it is seen for the first time in the flesh.

Thats got to be a pre facelift that's been converted to a facelift later. Certainly if it's the 25th then it has to be! The dash trim and the rear tailgate give it away!

Hmm. From what they say in the advert, it could be a late pre-production Mk2 used only for internal purposes up until they went under, hence a few Mk 1 bits.

In terms of variations from standard, I notice that the back of the Alcantara seats is light grey rather than Ash (dark grey).

In terms of paintwork, rather than being "black over green" as stated, Dark Olive is in fact a very dark green (Most blacks are actually a very dark blue.) and depending on the angle and light it may appear as such.

You'd need to check that it wasn't just a green car over painted in black. But even if it is, if it is a good repainting job it may have been MGR who did it.

Regards,
Kearton

Thanks, I also reported it and received this response from the seller :

hi, i have since changed the listing to state that this is the prototype after reading many of the forum posts i was linked to ,i knew it was slightly different but never really took the time to find out how different!,own fault really , i shall indeed be making aware anyone that does still wish to bid on it but it still is a fantastic car to drive just a bit big for me as im after a zs 180 instead

Just sounds more and more dodgy to me, Wants a 180 and yet only just bought it?
