Door seals
Scavenging around a V plate 75 on Friday for bits to take off it (it had come in with a cooked KV6 and was being scrapped, sadly) I noticed it had rubber seals running along the bottom edge of the front doors. I knew my 1999 75 had them along the bottoms of the back doors, but was not sure about the fronts. Anyway, I took them and sure enough my car did not have the same seals. I have only looked quickly, but it does not look like I can fit them easily as I don't seem to have the holes in the door for the seal clips to go into.
They must have been a very early deletion as my car was built July 1999. Has anybody else noticed whether or not their Oxford built car has them, do the S reg pre production cars have them? |

All the very early ones have them as far as I know but not certain, mine has them but when I changed my drivers side doors the replacements didn't and as you say there are no holes for them. i intend to use a strong epoxy to secure them when I get a min ( double sided tape failed )
Where abouts in Leeds are you?

Not sure exactly when mine was built but it has them on all the doors, just checked - it's a V reg '99.
I never even realised they were there - I presume they're something to do with sound deadening?

I'm a bit gutted now!! I always liked the idea of having one of the early cars with everything on it that it should have! But it seems even BMW deleted bits! I want an even earlier one now that really will have everything on it!
I guess they were for further sound proofing, I wonder if they were deleted on cost grounds or because the car was just too quiet for it's segment/price point. Or both! |

I'd like to reduce the wind noise so would be interested in any alternatives and ways they could be added to a late ZT-T. Regards, Kearton |
