Default PCV valve on BMW Diesel

Hi, What are the merits in replacing the existing (blue filtered)

PCV valve with an updated (filterless version) on our BMW

Diesel engined 75?

Thanking you in advance,

Rosebud (Old Lady).

Lets try and take more care of each other.

changing for the so called fit and forget is supposed to better as their is no filter to clog up.only one slight problem it is not fit and forget it is a 40000 mile service item.and at nearly fifty pounds you are better of changing the filtered cotton reel version at third of the price

Isn't it £50 for the whole assembly? When i had a cdti ,just got the filter for £17 and Austin Garages fitted it.

I added one a while back but wasn't aware of any servicing requirement. So what do you need to do at the 40,000 mile service? Anything more than rinse it out with turps or similar?

which one the filtered or the bmw one i was told it was forty thousand for the fit and forget pcv.hence as far as i am concerned tho having fitted one i will not bother with it next time.however at that mileage it might be worth it.alltho buy then the ztt will be up to the moon and back speedo reading

just checked on jules' site. the filtered housing needs changing at 90,000 mls.

if the fit and forget is filterless then i would imagine it is just that "a fit and forget item" but i would first check with bmw on the matter.

hmm i am sure i heard big russ mention the 40 thou figure .but might be wrong as for bmw they did not even tell rover re this which probally lead to the early demise of a few engines.or at the very least owners told your turbos had mate due to the amount of smoke.resulting in some cases of the car going to the crusher...thanks any way but i will not be contacting them
