We have had two of them for works cars since May 2011. Both have covered 35000 odd miles since. They are not popular, nor are they particularly economical. Both cars replaced Ford Focus 1800 diesels and they were cheaper to run. Every drop of fuel is accounted for, as is milage and an easy comparison between Focus and Prius shows the Focus's were more economical on fuel. Very basic inside and not too comfortable.
I's all very well running on batteries, but on the nightshift in winter, with headlights, heater, wipers on the engine is running most of the time.

It always surprises me that cars of this sort don't have lots of solar cells fitted, e.g. all over the roof, on the parcel shelf and in a panel on the top of the dashboard, to enable then to recover a bit of charge whilst sitting on the drive, in a car park etc. doing nothing.

In fact, given that most cars now have security systems running when parked, it would make sense it they too had a solar cell fitted to cover at least the drain of the alarm / immobiliser and possibly top-up the battery in Winter.

Regards,
Kearton

Are you able to share the average mpgs of both types of car?

Are they mostly motorway miles?

A hybrid is normally a cross between 2 breeds, a Prius is a cross between a car and a wardrobe from Scandinavia

Only used in and around town, 24 hours a day. I can check the log books for the cars some time soon and give the exact MPG, it's around 35-38 MPG.

I saw one recently in a car park, and was surprised at how big they are! Not at all what I expected for an Eco friendly vehicle....

My wife had one a few years ago , it wasn't exciting but it was comfortable and certainly better built and more reliable than our 75's/ZT.

Great on car tax and very low P11 D costs and cheap to service. It's more a white good than a car , but for alot of people thats all they want.
