Default Are your car mirrors adjusted properly?

This is how an American shows how to.

I agree that it is important to have your mirrors set well and why they've said what they have. However, both this and the Australian video seem to be produced from a purely car-orientated point of view; i.e I don't want to hit another car.

The plan view diagram in the American video is a bit misleading. Since the mirror was adjusted so that you could just see the edge of the car when leaned over, when sitting normally there is now a blind spot between the car and the area viewed. Just where a bicycle would be in town traffic and possibly a motorcycle when filtering in town or even in normal traffic on a multi-lane road. The real problem is that many (most?) car mirrors just do not cover a wide enough angle.

I recently fitted some after market door mirrors with a more sharply curved outer edge that effectively forms a separate "blind spot" mirror, but it still doesn't cover the required area completely.

The American video also forgets to remind drivers that they still need look over their shoulder before turning. The motorcyclists "life-saver". Noisy motor bikes do have their advantages.

Regards,
Kearton
