Question Leaking things

So...
I have found a problem that might be related to the age of our cars, or that and environmental factors. You know the corners of the windscreen? Well my offside top one started leaking into the cabin via the top of the A pillar.
I took advantage of a break in the rain (it is Preston after all!) to lift the edge seal. The amount of compost under the seal was shocking. The debris had, I think, forced the seal upwards then held water allowing it to drain into the car.
I have cleaned it as thoroughly as I can and re-engaged the clips. Visually the seal is now flush with the roofline. I will find out when the rain resumes whether or not I have been successful
I don't know if any of you have had a similar problem, but I felt it would be worth mentioning.
Thanks for reading as usual.

Water shouldn’t be able to get in there past the screen seal?

Have you had a replacement screen fitted at some point?

I haven't had one fitted, but the way the weather strip on the scuttle has always poked up on the offside made me wonder if it had been replaced.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed lol.

Upload a pic of the manufacturers name in the corner of the screen, we can tell if its original or not.

I periodically go around the edges of both front and rear screen edges to clear out the crud. If you do it regularly, it's quite easy - just lift the outer edge with one finger and wipe along the painted edge underneath with a cloth (dampened if necessary). If you do it a couple of times a year, it's not too bad but the first time that you do it you will be amazed at the build up of slimy green sludge and crud that's in there. I think that in the winter, it can freeze, expand and lift the rubber up, allowing moisture to run around the edges. Any crud build up may also result in rust forming. The side window strips also need a clean every now and then. (Nylon toothbrushes work well)

I will do that asap. My cleaning and clicking the frame back into place er, didn't work. And I can't get the frame sufficiently raised so I can reach in and give it a thorough clean, never mind sealing it with silicone
I will continue to try and weatherproof it, mostly owing to the northern monsoon we have here in (de) Preston 😟
