How do I free a jammed CD cassette?
I’m still loving my 75 but the faults are mounting !
The passenger door locked during cold weather a month ago and despite being told it would probably fix itself when the weather warms it hasn’t. Now today the multi disc CD player jammed when it moved to the next CD! I tried ejecting the cassette without success, it now displays “no cassette “ but will not eject the CD cassette. The locked front passenger door makes access difficult. Any ideas on how to free the CD cassette?? Cheers Stokey |

You have to remove the whole cassette, a simple job (search here for posting - bet it's by Arctic). I had to do mine recently. Basically drop the glove box lid till it's straight flat (push in the RH hinge). Underneath the fuse box cover you'll see four bolts: undo. Slide whole caboodle out and disconnect wiring. Then undo the case and you'll see the trapped disc, probably because it hasn't been used for sometime. I had to reconnect to wiring and work it a few times - you'll see the feed arm slide across and back. Some will say add lubrication but I avoided that not wishing to get grease/oil on the laser eye.

I had a similar problem with mine jamming on picking up a CD and I'm trying to think how I got it out. I'm not sure if you press and hold the eject button on the cassette it will force it to eject, I think I also had to gently slide the offending tray back into the cassette before it could be removed.
I tend to regularly use the CD player and select through the discs just to keep the mechanism free. |

I removed the whole unit as above and found that the greases in the unit had dried out over the years, causing it to stick. A quick clean with a cotton bud lubed with WD40, followed by a relube with white silicone grease and all was restored to as new. I have heard that a quick heat with a hairdryer or careful use of a heat gun can have a similar effect (freeing /melting the old grease).

When mine did this I found out a quick firm tap by palm of hand on CD changer
caused said trapped/jammed cassette to eject. Not very technical I know but worked for me! |
