Default Fitted Burr Walnut Dash Walnut Leather Steering Wheel & Gear Knob

The parts been with me for nearly two weeks but hurrah today they are now where they belong

Steering wheel nut was a bit of a nightmare to remove but after about 30 mins of blood sweat & tears wrenching on the thing it just started to move and off in seconds.

The dash was dead easy to remove & both wheel and dash with a little persuasion seated themselves without too much hassle - took just over 2 hours allowing for several tea breaks

The leather on the steering wheel was quite tatty but I have managed to dye it and it looks ok. The dye colour I had to try & match myself as the eBay supplier despite him saying sent two lots of smokestone grey dye nearly 2 weeks ago, well nothing has arrived , hopefully it will soon and I'll have to apply it with the wheel in place.

Thanks for the How To's made it all very easy and so here are some pics of the finished article

THAT LOVELY GOLD LETTERING

The chrome trim is not just round the vents! Check the Centre Console, Gearlever, hazard switch and clock.

Looking forward to getting mine fitted now at the upcoming meet (hopefully you and Simon are still up for it and we get a dry day?).

Default colour

Are you sure that the air bag isn't Sandstone Biege?

Hi all & thanks for kind comments, I recommend if you can get the real wood the deep rich look is amazing compared to the plastic.

I chromed the vents with the standard 3.5mm Chrome strip (as I have some other parts) and seal the join with a dab of silver leaf so it is not so obvious.

Yes cruise control on the wheel but sadly not on the car, the wheel came from a 2.5 connie se.

And yep I can 100% guarantee the centre air bag is smokestone grey as I used the one off my original wheel as the walnut wheel was very tatty. The reason why there is a slight mismatch in colour is because I had to dye the leather on the steering wheel itself & I haven't quite got the colour match right

I ordered some Rover 75 smokestone grey dye which arrived today but the colour is a million miles away from what it should be. If anyone knows of a good supplier or has a colour matched product please let me know. Probably have to do battle with the eBay supplier to get my money back now

So pleased with the look can't get mad about it.

Next projects:

Power fold mirrors
new 1 din DVD & Satnav

It's never ending - I say a hobby others say obsession

Default Colour Match

PARKER, I have just received leather dye kit for my Sandstone Biege steering wheel and it is an excellent match. It came from a company who sell BMW leather dyes but who will mix up special orders too. The kit comes with additional toners so that you can adjust the colour to match perfectly. I didn't have to send them a sample just quoted the Rover 75 colour. The contact address is:
[email protected] and the kit cost £16.95.
Later: have just given the steering wheel several coats and the match is very good indeed.
