Default stain on rear retractable parcel shelf thing

Hi,

Sorry for the lack of correct terminology but i have a stain on the retractable parcel shelf in the boot of my 2003 75 tourer conn se cdti.I have ran my hand over it and it was damp, but unable to find any water source, no wet roof lining, and suffering no condensation.
Has anyone got any ideas????

My father in law has a 2005 cdti zt-t and has the exact same problems.

Many thanks.

Peter, the leak may be located at the seal of the rear window. One (expensive) cure is to replace the window along with the sealing, which has sometimes been done under warranty by MGR.

My Tourer stays dry under any weather conditions, but after a car wash some water accumulates at the brake light and drops down onto the load space cover. As long as it happens only under this circumstances, I don't worry about it.

My tourer suffered tailgate leaks. More or less cured by "adjusting" (ie bending carefully) the metal ridge on which the main tailgate seal resides around the hinges.

Thank you, will monitor this situation, with weather and washing.

The other thing you can do is put some sealant - e.g. black mastic - on the join between the window and the rubber seal. It cured mine.

There is an article, probably in the 'How To' section, with a diagram showing the two different places it could be leaking. It helped me to sort mine out.

Regards,
Kearton

If water is collecting in the high level brake light, then the bonding between the glass and the metal frame has failed.

I did a temporary job on mine with clear mastic, but it really needs sepaerating and bonding by a winscreen company.
