Default Engine boost?

One continualy sees items regarding boosting the perormance of the engine which is always atributed to the diesel. Can anything be done to improve the performance of the basic 1.8. I have it serviced quite regular always do this and that but suffer what past member Nuts75 suffers no umph!!!. I don't want speed just the extra push when needed.
The car has done 71.000,

I do miss the turbo on my previous 620 manual but I like the comfort, looks and laziness of the automatic, of my Arran White 75.

I too have just brought a 1.8 Auto like you have and feel you need to keep it in sports mode for those hills!

I have read theres not much you can do to improve the torque/push on this engine as its at its best already, you can get some good horsepower tuning done to over 140 bhp but then you need to rev it to feel it

The Turbo version suppose to be real nice for the extra push and puts out 159ft lbs from a low 2100rpm which is just what is needed,
Still i find our car adequate on the flats.

BTW
what's the best fuel figure the trip computer has showed you as yet?
I only got just the car around a week ago and was getting over 47 mpg shown when around 50 -55 mph on the A1-M1 which i though was pretty good

Worst I've seen so far is 13 mpg whilst sitting in traffic for an hour on the A406

Default Power Boosters

Has anyone experienced these?

What are your thoughts?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INCREASE-BHP-C...d=p3286.c0.m14

Basically they seem to drop the percieved engine temperature by 2 degrees which in turn affects the timing.

What do you think?

I wouldn't be sure on using "Miracle" chips as such
but here's a tuning Info page I found on K-series which is interesting :

http://www.btinternet.com/~v11ufo/kseries.htm

How's a 190 bhp tune with our standard engine sound to you?

Enjoy the read

Heres another link that relates to the 1.8K series engine which the 75 shares:

http://www.elises.co.uk/components/s...ne/simons.html

what we would be really looking for is more tuning for more torque

I will have to be happy with what i have at present as I'm skint!

Default Engine boost

Thanks guys and also for the read Tim. I'm happy with what I have but get a tad fed up having to drop to sports mode. I had a Nissan Bluebird 1.8 with more poke than the Rover.......but it was not as good in any other way.
Again I don't trust the chips shown in the replys.
I can't afford to get a turbo one yet but then I do't want to part with this one either.
Looking forward to Friday when I'm able to drive again

Sorry I put thread in wrong forum GG

Regards
