Question How to change TV tuner

I want to change the analog tv tuner to a hybrid / digital one can anyone point me in the direction of how to change the unit or where there is a thread which deals with this. I don't even know where in the tourer the tuner unit is. Do you have to completely power down before any changes are made? Thanks.

The tuner in the Tourer is under the rear black plastic cover as you open Tailgate.
The Radio Receiver is also in there.
It is a simple job of unplugging one and plugging in another if a BMW compatible Tuner,
otherwise a adaptor lead will be required,
itself often quite pricey.

It isn't necessary to completely power down but I always feel more happy doing it this way as there are connections to Sat Nav computer in Loom.

Thanks for that. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the rear black plastic cover as you open the tailgate. Is it under the black plastic next to the rooflining or on the side somewhere behind the black plastic there?

Sorry as you open Tailgate and look straight down after lifting the Floor cover by handle,
there is a Black Plastic strip at back held on my about 4 plastic screw type bolts, not visible till you lift the floor.
Its the bit that goes down into spare wheel well, the width of the spare wheel well.
Lifting up the Loadspace floor will reveal it.
Sorry no pictures of that and am to far away from car at the moment to photograph it.

Thanks John, that's really helpful, I've lifted floor cover and can see the cover you mean, no screwdriver handy but I expect ithe unit is visible once the cover is removed.

Default DVB TV Tuner

Has anyone fitted one of these to their HILine System?

If so what sort of connections should be made.

I don't pick my car up until next week and am already keen on adding to it.

It seems very cheap and doesn't give any real figures re capture ratios etc.
You will need a much better aerial to receive adequate pictures also I believe.

Thanks John,

I thought it was very cheap aswell but for that price (in comparison to the price of a BM* hybrid) it could be worth an experiment.

I will ponder some more.
