Default 1.8T starting issue

My MK2 1.8T has a new starter motor. Shortly after collecting the car from the garage, the car refused to start, although it appears the engine is turning.

After a No. of attempts turning the ignition key, the engine relectantly fired, but not on all cylinders. Driving the car to get home, after a few hundred yards the car began to run on all cylinders,

I've plugged the car into TOAF, and found the following IKE error message
BF - IKE-EEPROM error, coding incorrect/incomplete
Errors count : 60
Invalid working area
Error present
Sporadic error

Any ideas on what's causing this? (the plenum is dry)

Can't help with non-starting issue, but I believe the Toaf error message is a standard one which happens if you have the digital speedometer enabled, you can disregard it as it has nothing to do with the non-starting issue.

Possibly fuel filter syndrome? Or the garage has disturbed something during the repair work.
