Gasket erosion.
Well, i changed the HG about 3 months ago, on my zt, now it's gone again.., but can you see the erosion to the left, my guess is that it was due to exhaust gases? Oh and the next Gasket will be a elastimer.

Was the head and engine checked for a level surface? Were the faces on the block and head cleaned up properly? My guess is that the surfaces were not cleaned sufficiently before the gasket was fitted. Nothing to do with antifreeze.

There is always someone who ’i can do that for you’ about. I like to deal with people who I have been recommended to me and let them do the job in hand. I have always probably been overcautious when taking engine’s apart because I have seen what ten seconds of bad , negligent work can cost, both in time and pure frustration, and of course .....money. I don’t mind how long I take to do a job so long as I do it correctly first time. That is why ,up until now, I have always done my own servicing and repairs. Anything goes wrong, then it’s down to me.

The MLS repair should only be used where the liner protrusions are all within the recommended range. Perhaps the No1 liner is a bit low? Did your earlier work include the recommended kit? The MLS gasket is part of the multi-part refit to 'fix' the K-series. This revision includes the uprated oil rail and different bolts. Without the full kit, I suspect the two steel shim system is unreliable. There are plenty of reports of MLS failure. Even today, the shim design is still evolving, indicating that the solution remains uncertain. I think you're wise to think about an elastomer type replacement. The Payen BW750 gets good reports.
