From memory, I think the cover unclips from the bottom edge and then lifts away from the dash (but remains attached due to the webbing).

Thank you for posting such an important message regarding safety, however, I am at a loss to visualise what you are exactly referring to, webbing etc?, any chance of a fuller explanation with some kind of photo.
Thanks

These may help also there are pins you can remove without cutting the webbing.

and you dont even need the appropriate security torx either - which is why I think so many apparently get cut! A number one screwdriver worked for me the first time.

also seen similar bodge when people have removed the A pillar trim.
They are attached by about 4 torx screws with webbing and attached by clips into the metal A pillar.
You cant remove the metal clips from the pillar so you have to remove the screws to remove the trim, you can only access 2 of the screws easily , some cars that have had re trims done dont bother putting them back in at all.
Dangerous if the air bag goes off!!

Still available but marked as genuine MG/Rover part so would be worth checking the dates first.

Judging by the amount of 75’s & ZT’s I see in the salvage auction that have deployed their airbags I’d say it’s not to big of a issue, I do however see other makes that are 2/3 years old that haven’t deployed, therefore I’d go as far as to say ours are probably fairly safe.

Generally speaking, your airbag won’t wear out or require replacement, no matter how long you own the vehicle. While many automakers once placed labels in vehicles insisting airbags had to be replaced after 15 (or even 10) years, that’s no longer the case. Today’s models are designed for the airbag to last the life of the vehicle, much like other important parts, such as large powertrain components, door latches and other items not expected to have expiration dates.

Automotive airbags now incorporate design features, specifically in their igniters, using the most robust technology possible to last as long as possible. While it’s likely a few of these igniters will fail every once in a while — and it’s even more likely they’ll fail as the car grows older — the majority should keep you safe for years to come.

Nope - and as far as I know they don't come with a sell by date.

As for cutting the airbag webbing you have to ask yourself how anyone could be so stupid.
