Rubber jacking point sills

Hi everyone,
Thanks to a suggestion - Discount MG Rover Spares (thanks very much) - my 04 diesel 75 now boasts a full set of those rubber jacking point sills. It got me thinking - especially with a car with a few years on the clock - is it a good idea to leave the said sills attached to the car. Would they help to harbour water, hence promote rust? Is it best to store them with the jack?

Well, there are drainage holes near the jacking points, so it's up to you if you want to keep the pads fixed or not

I don't think it makes a great deal of difference

A good idea though, is to spray waxoyl or similar into the sill void

I've filled both my sills with Dinitrol before replacing my missing pads. Might not help, but it sure won't hurt, either.
