Default name for flexible wire cable

what is the flexible wire cable called in things like speedo cables?

Any idea where I could buy such wire?

I will have to check the diameter of the cable in your link. I want to repair my Bosch sander and it uses the same sort of stuff

Item 840 here
https://www.mtmc.co.uk/Spare-Parts/B...35-155864.aspx

It is the bit that runs from 840 to 27 I need to replace. Item 840 is NLA

looks like I will be measuring the cable I have to see if either in the above will fit.

Thank you

Don't let the links above stop anyone from adding more just in case they are different diameters

How about speedo flexible drive cable!
In the kit Brian suggested (for motorcycle speedos) one end has to be a swaged square section that fits into an adaptor (either at the speedo head or the offtake drive end (often a right angle drive gearbox somewhere on the drivetrain). The other end is cut to desired overall length and then customise with the screw-on adaptor kit (that is often also a solid square drive with a threaded stub end that 'screws' (LH thread?) into the inner core of the drive cable.
The Bosch part is very very short and looks like it originally wasn't man enough for the job as they beefed it up a bit but that inevitably stiffens the cable so you need to compare whatever replacement you eventually decide to use.
It's a long shot but why not try sourcing the actual spare part from Bosch Switzerland, I've done it with jig saw parts that otherwise were said to be NLA

Agree. Now that I know what it is required for. Was assuming that if a replacement speedo cable was needed he would have went to rover supplier for one.

Probably..! I did the sourcing via my brother-in-law who is

b) lives/worked in Switzerland for over 40 years
