Although Eric Druyts won the Windrush award for best car in show
It was a very close run race between him and Sonic ZS's Dorchester Red Connie Seriously though, Paul has put in a gargantuan effort to bring this neglected pre production car back to life, including rebuilding the cylinder heads, a replacement engine loom which had been cut in two, removing a mouse nest from the fuel pump and a complete replacement near side outer sill, rear jacking point, inner arch and floor sections. If you keep at it Paul, you never know, you may yet win a trophy |

Well..
What a great day for what was my last national meet helping out behind the scenes (at least for a while) and I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone of you that have attended them. Thanks also to Paul (reebs) for the bottle of wine and kind words. All in all a great meet at a nice venue although it would have been nice to have a little more room to spread out a bit. Congratulations to Matt and Eric on their well deserved awards. Happy to say that after his dramas Eric is safely on his way home LINK https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=294282. As some of you know I'm taking a step back to spend some time around the race circuits supporting a young relative of my wife who's has got himself a ride in the British Superbike championship https://www.britishsuperbike.com/new...official-test/ It would be great to share a coffee with you if anyone makes it to any of the rounds. A few photos of the day :
Firstly, 2 photos of one of the days highlights for me. At first glance, I thought it was just another tired '75, but it transpired to be a pre-production Dorchester Red model found in a hedge by Sonic ZS. It arrived at the meet on a trailer as it is in mid-restoration, but the accompanying photos told a fascinating story. I have no doubt it will be a future show winner : 2 photos of Erics stunning prizewinner: a Longbridge Ltd Edition '75. The only one I have ever seen in the flesh (sorry about the photo - should have bought a lens hood!) Love this car : Last years prize winner showing off his paintwork Another previous prize winner (best '75 at the Cadbury World meet if I recall correctly): A cracking day out, so a big thank you to all involved. I should also say a special thank you to Peter (Harrisop48) for the laminator, guillotine, and photopaper he very kindly gifted to me on the day. A very generous gesture that is very much appreciated. Cliff

It's very kind of you all to comment so positively about S542AOX - the car is still in a bit of a state and I wasn't too sure about bringing it to the National in this condition, but I'm glad I did now
The car though, probably looks worse than it actually is, especially considering it's 20 years old, however the worst bit for me (the V6 engine repairs) are now complete, so it's all plain sailing from here... I have to mention Mickeyboy (who kindly supplied the early type engine loom), Oxfordblue (that tracked down the missing fuel system parts), Harrisop48 & RogerHeinz57 (for assisting in finding a donor car) and a good friend 'Baldrick' (not a member on here) for his technical advice and continual use of his workshop and ramp The car WILL get finished, although at this stage I can't say when....about 6 mths ago I was planning on driving it to Yeovilton... And Reebs, an award is always nice, but I only come along for the fridge magnet
