I am trying to find a close up shot of said spring for you.

PS could not find a close up photo of the said two prong spring but below is a link to them

Aha, so that's how it's supposed to work. I've been pondering that for days and couldn't figure it out.

So I just need a pair of clips EJP7813A?

Yes that would be the part couple here below, there may be cheaper ones about if searched ?

Cheapest I can find is £4.45 for a pair (cheaper than Rimmers if shipping taken into account) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-Rover-....c100005.m1851

They're coming up as handbrake cable clips on some results - which is a bit weird, unless the MGF/TF use them for the handbrake and 75/ZT for the brake hoses (dual use part).

I'll go for the £4.45 eBay ones unless I can think of anything else I need from Rimmers.

The Sealey VS0348 spanner is the best of all the ones I tested by a mile. The trick to using it is to prepare the flare nut properly first. Scrape off all the rust on the flats you can see - and on the ones that you can't see. The tools I used were:

- Sharp-bladed screwdriver
- New Stanley knife blade
- Sharp, pointed bradawl
- Emery cloth
- Very small wire brush (hand)
- Small wire disc brush (mains drill/Dremel)
- Modelmakers file set (to clean up rounded corners between flats)
- Plusgas

The Bradawl is to get right into the joint where the flare nut meets the union bracket. The less rust & muck in there, the further the Sealey will go onto the flare nut.

Spend as long as it takes getting the nut back to the best possible state before trying to undo it. Then give it some Plusgas, wait for a couple of minutes and wipe the nut down. The Sealey was now such a good fit on mine that it had to be edged onto the flare nut bit by bit until it was right up against the union bracket. I did all that and it had no trouble at all undoing both of my rear unions - they both cracked on the first anti-clockwise turn. None of the other spanners I'd bought would have done this.

So if anyone else needs to get their brake pipes disconnected - buy a Sealey VS0348. Fantastic bit of kit.

You got the wrong hoses. The spring ones are for front! They are too short. Also you will need a ratchet brake tool, there is little or no room for manouver when trying to undoo and retighten.

I just done this job my my, I had to cut pipe, renew fittings etc.

Soz for negativity.

Hi Charles.
I thought the OP knew that he had the front hose as shown in the photo post 21 if not I should have stated it when I posted

There seems to be some mass confusion going on all round.

I started the thread to get advice on undoing the rear brake hose union (the little bracket welded to the chassis - pics at post 7 & 22).

The hoses I bought were supposed to be for the rear calipers - they are both Delphi LH0461. The eBay advert says they're for the rear but (as I've just discovered) the Delphi catalogue says LH0461 is for the front - see here and here.

Rimmers say the rear hose is SHB000851, which has a spring and a metal joint half-way along. - it looks identical to LH0461.

My original factory rear hose (the one I've taken off) does not have a spring and does not have a metal joint half way along - it has a rubber grommet instead, which pushes into the metal bracket on the trailing arm. SHB000851 does not fit this metal bracket, neither does LH0461.

That bracket is pictured in their diagram but not price listed.

Rimmer Bros "improved" data base less user friendly and helpful since those improvements.
