Default Ambient temperature sensor issue

Hi everyone,
Today as I was driving the outside temperature reading went to -30 I stopped and I found the wiring loom of the exterior temp sensor and fog lights was hanging and the orange wire out of the temp sensor's wiring was cut I patched the wiring up but still the car read -30 I tried another sensor of my old car which was working and still -30 any ideas what could be wrong?

Sounds like the harness is the issue then.

Could the harness have possibly sorted both the sensors as well ? I had a good look did not seem like there was anything else wrong with it

Equilibration of a disconnected ambient sensor can take a few minutes to a few hours. The reading won't necessarily be 'correct' as soon as the wiring is fixed. Try leaving it overnight and then decide any further work.
