Default BT sport rant

My wife wants to go on holiday during the football season and I want to watch as many Liverpool matches as I can. As I have BT sport I thought no problem take my laptop, log into my BT.com account and watch football.

I rang BT sport to check and yes I can do that, brilliant.

So why the rant?

Gut feeling that the call taker was talking trash.

Emailed the CEO, explained my issue and asked he checked and got back to me. One of his staff called me today and... I bet you've guessed.
No I cant watch BT sport outside of the EU and the BT.com web site will know I'm not in the EU and block me.

I would have been beyond furious had I logged onto my lap top 5 minutes before a match only to find I was blocked.

Why oh why is BT customer services so poor?
It breaks my heart every time I contact BT and get such service, I did 35 years with the company and believed it was every employees responsibility to make the company better. The unpaid hours I put in, evenings, weekends and even on holiday.
There just is not the will to give quality customer service, I've listened to staff giving poor service and it has made me cringe. It does not matter what grade the people are, senior manager to call centre staff.
Some staff knowing there is a problem don't think it is their job to sort it... I just do as I'm told or I told the manager, not my job to chase it is the attitude.

I have emailed ESPN asking if they will be showing the matches I want and how do I access the viewing.

If it was something important (like F1 for example) I'd understand your frustration, but at the end of the day it's only football!

What you need is a VPN on your computer (Virtual Private Network) This fools the BT servers into thinking you are still in the UK.

Various companies offer these for just a small monthly fee. Have a look here

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.r...t-working-vpn/

That should sort you out

We use a VPN to log into British television. As Paul says it fools the servers. I had to create a BBC log in account and when I log in, I am asked if I have a TV license. I tick the box and there are no problems. The quality depends on data speed available. Fortunately our internet speed is faster than in the UK, buffering is not seen. The VPN we use is called Nord. I paid a discounted fee for 3 years access. We are able to watch ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC on our Mac devices. I hope this helps.

Gents thank you for the tip

I am not a computer buff so forgive me.

As I am currently in the UK and therefore able to access BT sport, if I were to download ExpressVPN which is on Reebs link, how could I test it to know I can access BT sport?

F1, is that where they go round in circles and stop racing if its too wet and dangerous obstacles such as barriers have to be a long way from the race track?
Rallying, that's the one to watch, gravel, bumps, trees, jumps, buildings, ravines, rocks and skill lots and lots of skill.

we will try but I want to have a back up plan. In Austria we went to a couple of Irish pubs to watch football. Here if the game is on sky its down to the local pub and when away with the caravan, 3 searches are made, scrap yards and pubs that show football via sky and pubs that show football via BT sport.

Put your foot down with a firm hand, tell her she has a choice,
go on her own so you can watch football as she's obviously
not willing to compromise. or go on holiday when footballers
are taking their annual leave

OR

Do as Trikey said find a bar showing the match

OR

Do as Gatekeeper suggests use a VPN

OR

Change the wife for a more compliant one

(All tongue in cheek of course)

more compliant, omg she searched, found map read to and sat in a smokey Irish bar with me. Smoke gives her a sore throat and she did suffer for the next few days. Mind you a manager did tell her once she was hard to manage. That has become a joke now, hard to manage...... if you knew my wife you would understand why no one can understand the managers comment.

She would have rebooked the holiday for after the season and damn the extra cost but I thought we would find a way to watch the games.

I'll be gutted if I miss the games but she is worth it
