Any one seen the 2017 film Dunkirk?
What did you think of it?

Reviews seem to be good but I've just watched it, I did not like it at all.

I too, found it to be somewhat of a letdown. I couldn't, " get into", the film very much at all, at times losing some interest, and picking up the TV guide for a scan.

Shame, I was really looking forward to seeing it too.

I wasn't overly impressed... Unlikely to ever watch it again so deleted it from the media pc.

Ouch!
Saw this in the cinema, and just re-watched the Blu-ray.
I think it's an extraordinary piece of work. It chooses to be about the whole terrible event, rather than focusing on any individual. The sinking of the torpedoed ship is brutal, and the soundtrack with its relentless pulse means you never relax.
Are there discrepancies? Yes. Dunkirk was utterly smashed to ruins, rather than being the picturesque seaside town we saw in the film. As for the timeline, no it isn't linear, but knowing that builds the tension- you eventually realise the different stories (troops on the beach, the Spitfire patrol, the Little ship) will all come together somehow.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it, I think it's the best thing Christopher Nolan has done by a country mile.

Viewed at the cinema is the best way to get the feel of the film. Enjoyed it better than the dvd but still worth watching.

I agree - it was hyped up rubbish, the 1960's file with, John Mills Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee was much nearer to the event, no "deering do" just real "what a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- up" reality and of course the tin helmets were the correct colour! Chris.S.
